چکیده

The problem of crossover from BCS to Bose-Einstein condensation has recently attracted considerable interest owing to the discovery of high-Tc cuprates. Their short coherence length, ξ, places these materials in the interesting region between BCS and Bose-Einstein condensation. In the paper of F. Pistolesi and G.C. Strinati (Phys. Rev. B 49, 6356 (1994)), the Nozières and Schmitt-Rink approach (NSR) is taken, which is valid for the weak coupling regime. They derive a relation between Tc and TF, which they insist is valid for any coupling strength. We present arguments that their assumptions are incorrect by using our fully self-consistent T-matrix formalism in two dimensions, and show that the NSR approach produces unphysical results in ∗Permanent Address: Departamento de F́ısica, Grupo de Sólidos, FEC LUZ, Apartado 526, Maracaibo, Venezuela. BCS-Bose Crossover in Color Superconductivity

It is shown that the onset of the color superconducting phase occurs in the BCS-BE crossover region. During the last 2-3 years color superconductivity became one of the QCD focal points –see review papers [1]-[3]. To a large extent (but not completely) the basic ideas of the subject are traced back to the BCS theory of superconductivity and its later development. It is known that the discovery ...

Bose-Einstein to BCS Crossover Picture for High-Tc Cuprates

Combining (1) the universal correlations between Tc and ns/m ∗ (superconducting carrier density / effective mass) and (2) the pseudo-gap behavior in the underdoped region, we obtain a picture to describe superconductivity in cuprate systems in evolution from Bose-Einstein to BCS condensation. Overdoped and Zn-substituted cuprate systems show signatures of reduced superfluid density in a microsc...

Evolution from BCS superconductivity to Bose condensation: analytic results for the crossover in three dimensions

We provide an analytic solution for the mean-field equations and for the relevant physical quantities at the Gaussian level, in terms of the complete elliptic integrals of the first and second kinds, for the crossover problem from BCS superconductivity to Bose-Einstein condensation of a three-dimensional system of free fermions interacting via an attractive contact potential at zero temperature...

Se p 20 04 Klein – Gordon Equation for Quark Pairs in Color Superconductor

The wave equation is derived for quark pairs in color superconductor in the regime of low density/strong coupling. During the last five years color superconductivity became a compelling topic in QCD – see the review papers [1]. Grossly speaking, we have a fair understanding of color superconductivity physics in the high den-sity/weak coupling regime. In the low density/strong coupling region th...

Superconductivity as a Bose-Einstein condensation?

Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) in two dimensions (2D) (e.g., to describe the quasi-2D cuprates) is suggested as the possible mechanism widely believed to underlie superconductivity in general. A crucial role is played by nonzero center-of-mass momentum Cooper pairs (CPs) usually neglected in BCS theory. Also vital is the unique linear dispersion relation appropriate to weakly-coupled “bosonic...
